We had a lot of fun at this years National Night Out in the South Park Blocks. Lot’s of interesting folks, lot’s of tasty food and refreshing beverages, and great music by The Usual Suspects to round it all out. Oh, and the weather was perfect!
We’re looking forward to this years National Night Out in the South Park Blocks. Lot’s of free food and drinks and of course there will be a lot of interesting folks attending as well. Last year was a blast, with Police Chief Mike Reese and Company providing their talent on the stage for all to hear. Below is a video we shot from last year of The Usual Suspects. It’s that time of year again folks. The Safeway® Waterfront Blues Festival, the largest blues festival on the West Coast and the second largest blues festival in the nation is coming to Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon July 4th thru July 8th.

When I was a kid in the 1970′s, everyone watched Ramblin’ Rod’s Cartoon Show. It originally aired during after-school hours, then moved to 7:30 in the morning. If you were a youngster, you were familiar with Ramblin’ Rod. (He was one of the inspirations for Krusty the Klown on the The Simpsons.)
One of Ramblin’ Rod’s biggest sponsors was Pop Shoppe Soda Pop. It was somewhat of a chore to obtain if you didn’t live in city-proper: we had to convince our parents to drive ALL THE WAY TO GRESHAM and purchase it by the case.
This was where it got tricky. Pop Shoppe was only sold by the case, and in those days the Oregon bottle deposit on glass was ten cents each. So… that’s $2.40 for the empty bottles, plus you have to buy a WHOLE CASE. That’s, like, a hundred dollars in today’s money. So we didn’t get Pop Shoppe Pop very often.
