Portland Native Charles W. offers the following recollection:
When I was a kid in the 1970′s, everyone watched Ramblin’ Rod’s Cartoon Show. It originally aired during after-school hours, then moved to 7:30 in the morning. If you were a youngster, you were familiar with Ramblin’ Rod. (He was one of the inspirations for Krusty the Klown on the The Simpsons.)
One of Ramblin’ Rod’s biggest sponsors was Pop Shoppe Soda Pop. It was somewhat of a chore to obtain if you didn’t live in city-proper: we had to convince our parents to drive ALL THE WAY TO GRESHAM and purchase it by the case.
This was where it got tricky. Pop Shoppe was only sold by the case, and in those days the Oregon bottle deposit on glass was ten cents each. So… that’s $2.40 for the empty bottles, plus you have to buy a WHOLE CASE. That’s, like, a hundred dollars in today’s money. So we didn’t get Pop Shoppe Pop very often.
Fast forward to the future: Now you can get Pop Shoppe Soda Pop by the individual bottle at Peterson’s! With several flavors to choose from, you can time-travel back to 1979 and maybe win the Smile Contest:

From their Website:
LOGIC is the leader in Disposable Electronic Cigarettes. It’s a battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine or non-nicotine vaporized solution. It’s an alternative to smoking tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. Logic looks, feels and tastes like a traditional cigarette without any of the burning, ash, smell, second hand smoke, tar or tobacco.

NewsRadio 750 KXL calls him “Mr. Barbeque”, us folks here at Peterson’s usually just call him Matt. With a big friendly smile and a lumberjacks handshake, Matt can be seen from time to time here at Peterson’s accompanied by his fiance Jennifer Peterson, (Mr. Peterson’s daughter).
Matt has just opened a new Barbeque & Ribs Shack in Lake Oswego, and this writer was lucky enough to get a taste of Matt’s Barbeque Artistry. I sat down to a Tri-tip sandwich, Mac & Cheese, and a Mexican Coke and I am now extremely envious of the folks who live and work nearby. It was one of those meals where for a couple of days I kept thinking of how really good it was and my brain trying to recall the flavors over and over.

In our last post, we mentioned how awestruck we are from the amount of artistic genius that surrounds us as of late. There is a plethora of wonderfully unique pieces of Art, Fashion, and Jewelry in our midst, and we couldn’t be happier.
