Portland Rose Festival

2010 Collector’s Series

Portland Rose Festival Official Wine Sponsor.

To honor this years Portland Rose Festival, Oak Knoll Winery has released their Vintage 2008 Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris Wines.  Oak Knoll Winery has a great reputation amongst wine connoisseurs as evidenced by their many awards. Check out the bling on those wines below!  Peterson’s is proudly offering these fine Oak Knoll wines at all three Peterson’s locations.  We are offering the Pinot Gris for $13.99 a bottle and $18.99 for the Pinot Noir.

Here’s a link to OAK KNOLL WINERY’S website.

Punchin writes a nice article on Oak Knoll & this year’s wine selection at culinarygourmet’s website.

As for the Rose Festival, this year has gotten off to a bit of a wet start, but this is nothing new in the Rose City is it?

We have our fingers crossed that this years Rose Festival doesn’t get too wet or worse yet, have a repeat performance like 62 years ago. Below was the result.

Friend and customer, Portland Mercury news editor Matt Davis has bigger fish to fry.

Lots of people around here are gonna miss him dearly, myself included. And while everyone might not agree with what he has to say, Matt always has a way of shaking things up and getting the dialogue rolling full tilt. Stagnation is not in Matt’s dictionary.

Gosh it seems like only yesterday we made these quirky little videos below for Matt and his co-workers at the Portland Mercury. (sniff….I think I got some dust in my eye.)

Best of luck to Mr. & Mrs. Davis, we’re gonna miss ya!!!

Okay Class, today we are going to study a little bit of math and engineering.

How many cans of 16 oz Bud Light does it take to build a 747?

This is NOT a 747 by the way.

For the answer, let’s turn to one of Peterson’s biggest fans, our friend Dave from the U.K. who miraculously figured out the answer to this question and shared it with me in a recent email.

HA HA HA !!!! — BRILLIANT !!!!

So here you have it folks!

Thank you Dave for making my day with your awesome sense of humor!

Our long distance friend and Peterson’s fan “D.J.” who resides in the U.K. and whom we have blogged about PREVIOUSLY. recently sent to us this photo he took of a memorial that sits on the banks of the Derwent Reservoir. Derbyshire over in the U.K. (click links for information).

The Memorial was erected in honor of “Tip” the Sheepdog.  D.J. explained how he has been reading this interesting book titled “Silent Valley Revisited” by Vic Hallam, and one of the stories in the book is about “Tip” the Sheepdog and his undying loyalty to his master.
