HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I was in the middle of taking pictures of the fall foliage when I ran into this long line of walking, orderly, zombies. Luckily my camera takes video as well, or I never would have captured this video below.

A couple of nights ago I was performing weekly computer maintenance tasks at our Yamhill store and couldn’t help but hear this fascinating music coming from just outside our front doors. I quickly investigated and noticed a lady strumming her guitar and singing.

I had my trusty little UltraHD Flip Nano pocket camcorder and asked her if I could get some footage.  She was very nice and didn’t mind at all. Unfortunately, her MAX was just arriving so I only managed to grab a few seconds, but some nice seconds they turned out to be if I might say so myself.  See for yourself below.

We sell a good amount of Coca-Cola products here at  Peterson’s, and I am certain that our local Coca Cola distributor would be pleased if they saw this, or maybe they already have, who knows…

All I know is, these guys-PurchaseBrothers are amazing filmmakers!

Parousing the Wide World of Webbage, I stumbled upon some video footage of a Japanese Convenience Store. And as usual, I had to go messin’ with it.

The original footage can be viewed by clicking HERE

A few snips here, and some special effects there, a dash of spiffy Japanese pop music and Viola. Instant Abstract Video Art. This particular Convenience Store is located somewhere in Osaka, Japan.

Theo (GoodTime) Patterson from geno heleen on Vimeo.

Theo is often seen in front of our Morrison store, singing and playing his acoustic guitar. This night was a little different. This time he brought along his “lappy”, a BR-9 Lap Steel Guitar, and I had to get me some footage!

From his MySpace page:

Theo takes a very thin slice of America’s musical pie and serves up a sweet blend of blues, rock, and R&B that will tickle your tonal taste buds. A native of Portland, Oregon, Theo has been playing his brand of R&B and old school rock around the Portland scene since his high school days. Now he is taking his music to the people in a new unique way. Through the time honored art of busking (open air performing), Theo is reaching out to fans that would otherwise have been missed at the bars and night clubs. This is a “goodtime” show for the whole family, so feel free to sing along, feel free to dance. This is one you don’t want to miss.

Anyone who has ever listened to Theo sing has most likely had their day brightened by his infectious smile and the joy that beams from this mans heart.

Here’s a slice of Peterson’s beehive pie for you to feast your eyes upon.

The recipe is fairly simple. Add approximately 4 hours of Peterson’s video footage, lots of caffeine, a pinch or two of video editing software, some music by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and finally some Youtube Vimeo yeast to make it rise (hopefully), and you end up with something like the video below. Would this qualify as “Time-Based Art”? Hmmmm……

The original version is much clearer, however, to compress this puppy under 100 Megabytes, I had to sacrifice the quality a little bit. But it’s still fun to watch.

Disclaimer: Video contains subjects moving at an accelerated rhythm, may be harmful to those prone to seizures while watching fast moving silly, amateur videos.

CLICK HERE to see the Youtube version, where you have the option to press “watch in high quality” located under the bottom right of the youtube video for (slightly) higher resolution.
